I have tested my water a few times since returning from holidays (just paranoia really because I had been away).  Nothing has been off in the readings at all and is still spot on with no ammonia or nitrite.

Right... so earlier this week one of my platies had a tiny dot of fungus just above its eye and I just did additional water changes and it cleared up with no problems.

This morning I woke up, turned on the aquarium light and my oldest guppy (my previous oldest guppy died a few days back from really old age and this one is quite old as well) had three spots of fungus (one on each fin and on on its back) but was also pineconing.  I decided to euthanize because of the pineconing and the fish's old age.  I am rather shocked though... there was nothing visibly wrong with that fish last night... so, worried I'll get some more surprises like that.

Do I have a problem with my tank?  I'd like to avoid using meds.  If I do some frequent water changes will that ride whatever this is out?
