1 of my Sterbai Corys looks like he's grazed himself, from just below his eye to about half way down his body it is like his skin has peeled off and it is sort of whitish. Doesn't look like fugus.

My Dwarf Gourami also has an open wound and holes in his fins but he loves getting into fights so i think his must be bites. It is possible that 1 of my kribs bit the cory but it doesn't really look like a bite, as i said it looks more like he's grazed it on something.

Just wondering whether fish can accidentally do this on bogwood or something?

Thanks

Holes in fins is finrot.
Any sharp objects in the tank.
Peeling skin can be columnaris.
The open wound does it look sore and how deep is the wound.
Or add the corys to another tank.

Holes in fins is fin rot? I didn't know that i thought fin rot was wasting from the top. The fins don't look in bad condition just like they've had a couple of holes bitten in them, he had holes once before and they healed up.

The cut on the DG is not deep at all, it is red but it is right at the surface. I am treating with melafix (tea tree oil) to help healing.

There are sharp objects such as bog wood, rocks etc. but all are made for the aquarium.

If the sterbai had columnaris wouldn't the other fish show signs? Is it unlikely to just be a graze?

Thanks for the reply!

I would take the bogwood out and sand paper the sharp bits off.
I think you need to rehome the kribs if there taking bites out of other fish.

The kribs have just started to clear out a cave so think they may spawn so they are more aggressive than usual but they aren't too bad, I have never actually seen them bite anything only chase which is why I think maybe he grazed himself.

Will sand the bogwood.

As for the gourami could the holes just be bites or is it more likely that it is finrot?

Thanks

Thanks, great article. It mention that it may go away on its own in the early stages which may be why the holde healed once before. I think maybe I will leave it for now and keep a close eye and if it doesn't get better I will treat.

Thanks again!

my Bala's regulary take lumps out of themselves, mainly the tops of there head. this leaves a white patch that heals on its own as long as the water is in good condition. as you said melafix is always an option.
