well just wanted to know really, do dwarf puffers well.... puff up?
i no its not nice to make them puff up, but i haven't seen it anywhere, not even on google

yes i no rocker but i haven't heard of anyones actually puffing up, or seen pics

All puffers have the ability to inflate.
I have witnessed all my species of puffer inflate including the dwarf puffers. The only exception being my fahaka which I have not seen.

what does it mean when they puff up, is it cuz they are stressed, happy, scared? or something else

I believe in the wild they puff up if a predator tries attacking them, this means if a preditor of X size attacks it, and the puffer puffs up, it wont be able to swallow it. Also, the puffer puffing up increases the size, and may scare of predators.

Puffers do puff for practice as well as in times of danger. This is particular true of younger puffers.
They also inflate as a threat posture.

ok thnx, helped me alot, im thinking of getting some for my 20gal, not yet though, i just need info thnx :D

I've never seen my South American puffer or my two red-tail, red-eye puffers puff.

Marine puffers seem to puff much more readily. As soon as you life Arothron and Sphaeroides spp. puffers out of the sea, they puff up, together with making a weird clicking noise.

I do know that male Carinotetraodon spp. puffers raise a keel along the ventral surface when displaying to females or threatening another male (Greek: "carina" = keel, hence the name). I'm not sure if this modification has changed their ability to puff generally.

Cheers,

Neale
