Do Blue Rams Go Ok With Live Plants?

theyre very good with plants, but rams need a sand substrate as they are small earth eaters (mikrogeophagus sp) they may uproot plants but i never had issues

great, thats no problem as i have sand as my substrate already.

all i need is a clean out and i maybe be getting some this weekend. but whenever i get them i will keep you posted ;)

thanks for your reply truck :)

i have only seen some in my new pets at home (there tanks are unusually good, due to the tanks are fairly new.) so i will probably be getting them from there will they be ok?

is their a way you can tell the difference? :dunno:

ask them if they are tank bred and to make sure ask to see the invoice that came with them so you know where they came from.

Please be very careful here... Certain outlets [cough] have about 8 tanks to 1 filter and quarantine new arrivals in this shared tank arrangement for about a day before they remove the piece of paper that says 'not for sale'.
My local has a fantastic new fish section recently which I thought was amazing (including a living room sized reef tank!) but after going back they had a tank FULL of Neons and about three of them showed sogns of whitespot and Columnaris (saddleback) all chucked in with this shared filter arrangement. They had just brought them out of so called quarantine too... I dread to think how many people took some very sick animals home that day/s...

New setups won't be mature either so more disease prone?

I won't buy anything there for this reason even though their stock looks healthy but have to say browsing is like a free trip to Blue Planet and it is sometimes very tempting! Plants maybe not so bad though but should we support them at all?

Maybe a more reputable lfs should be found in your area?

Well mine seemed to be perfectly fine with all the plants in my tank... but then enter the new frogbit and they decided that it was fun to pop it like bubble wrap! All through the night i hear "POP!!" "POP!!" "POP!!" as they burst the air sacs on the undersides :D so i would say your fine so long as you dont have frogbit and if you do be prepared for a noisy time lol

To be honest the only plant I have ever had a problem with was Utricularia gramnifolia and Pogostemen helferi ages ago. It was prob my fault as they were expensive tropica plants and I had left them in the pots till I decided how I wanted to plant them. They got completely eaten. I now have cabomba, anubias, limnophila sessiliflora, rotala, amazons, elechoris, crypts and they have not touched them.
