Or are there a few types of Tetras that are a little more agressive and therefore not a good match for a mixed Tetra tank.

I know serpea tetras can be nippy if not enough of them are kept together, and black skirt tetras can also be nippy and are fast and pretty big, so they may not be a good choice if you had the smaller tetras.

i have some black skirts, they're a really nice fish, but they can be nippy, usually with each other
something to stay away from is penguin tetras, i just bought some and man, they look great in the pet store, and they're good in the tank for the first little bit, but once they calm down, and get used to it, they get very aggressive, i found if you keep them with something just a little bit bigger than them, they're fine, but still rough with each other

I put 7 larger molly fry (almost an inch) in the 20 gallon tank and the black skirt tetras were fine with them (those are the ones I was worried about). But, one of my red eyed tetras darted at them, so I quickly moved both of them into my 55 gallon tank. I had never seen this aggression towards the larger mollys, swords or black skirts, so it must have been the size of the little mollies.

Hook tooths (also sometimes called bucktooth) tetras are about the only tetra I know of that won't get allong with other tetras.

Sepeas and similar shaped tetras can be nasty, but IME will usualy get along with other tetras. Bit of a grey area there. Some will tell you that it will work, others will say it won't. Your call :good:
