I am new to the fish keeping hobby and was wondering if they may escape out of the gap beside my filter. It's about 2 inches X 5 inches.

As African cichlids tend to be bottom dwellers for most of the time, i would think they would be fine with a hole in the lid.. and indeed, i have seen a couple of people keep them indefinately without lids.

Thanks Faythee..

And thanks to you too, kiriyama! As far as the tank, it's a 60 gallon all glass with Penguin Bio Filter 330 (older version I think), and currently running an Aqua Clear 70 for now. The AC is going on my sons' 29 gallon soon. As far as the fish, they are African Cichlids of some sort! I'm hoping someone here can help me identify what type and what sex they are. I bought them as you see them with little information about their identification.

Beautiful tank! The only time I've known mbuna to jump is when feeding them. They are very into their food.
