Ok, just so there is zero misconceptions about my abilities: I suck at DIY

There, with that said, here's the pics... oh, yeah, building a light strip for a 2 x 13w CF light unit ordered from www.ahsupply.com

Would if I could... tank is 16" and reflector is 17".. major bummer...

If you stick some sides on it will contain the overspill light shining on the wall at the edges.

You can get away with adding to top buy adding a rim that sits around the edges & then a spacer rim added to that to fir the dimensions of the hood you have made. If you go this route it's also advisable to drill so large holes in the rear to aid ventilation.

Or if you have the tools you could use on piece for the supporting frame & rout a rebate where the tank edges sit.

The kit cost $30 from ahsupply.com and the bulbs were 7 bucks each.

littleimp: I like that idea! Maybe I'll work on it some more. Thing is, that you can't see, cuz I didn't take close up shots, hehe... the plywood split when I hammered nails in. So I think in a short time I'll build another one and improve on it...
