Hello all,

Right in the next few days i am going to be buying the regulator and fire extinguisher from ebay after reading this link:

DIY CO2 system

I will be fine with taking the horn off and fitting the regulator i have worked with compressed gasses for years. The only thing is i am totaly new to CO2 in tanks. Can anyone help me with the rest. My tank is 300Litres. I dont know how many bubbles i need in the bubble counter or even what this means. Ido know i will need to be running 24/7 co2.

What other things will i need appart from bubble counter and can anyone show me pics on the the bit that goes into the tank. sorry if i am giving you a challenge on this one?

start off with about 5BPS, you will need to sdjust this though depending on levels, have you got a Drop checker on the llist?

Drop checker? Is this the same as a bubbe counter.. I will be buying co2 extinguisher, regulator, bubble checker, check valve and diffuser. As well as some tubing. I think this is all i need. If you could help with the list it would be really appreciated

Thanks

Gaz

you fill the drop checker with 4dkh solution, then add bromothol blue, when the ph is at 6.6, and the kh is at 4 (in DC) then you will have 30ppm of CO2. there is some info in the guide a bove

I will buy a drop checker no pobs just looked into it. That is to just make sure you co2 levels are good i see that now. I presume you have to add chemicals to it? Like stated above but dont you get this in the kit when you buy it to get the readings?

with most kits you do get the bromothol blue, if not, then get a low range test kit and use the chemical out of that, you can get 4dkh solution from here aqua essentials and it lasts months!

it is really simple:

1) get your drop checker: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...;Category=20756

2) add 3 drops of the bromothol blue (comes with drop checker above) or get a low range ph test kit & use the chemical in that.

3) get some 4dkh solution, then add some into it with a pippette, fill the glass ball 1/2 full. http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/index.php?...roducts_id=1447

change weekly,

the colour in the ball is slow at changing and takes about 1-2hours to do so, so if it doesnt change, dont up it as you are in risk of gassing your fish!

Blue - <25ppm
green - 30ppm
yellow - >35ppm

i like mine at a greeny yellow colour.

sounds good. It has cost me quite a bit up to now but i went round to a bloke who i work with to see how his planted tank works. Looks really complicated but i am looking forward to getting all the bits. the only thing i am worried about is gasing my fish but i will be carfull.

i have baught two diffusers for both sides of the tank and all the piping and regulator. Got the dropper and the bubble counter. I still have to get the small pumps to rotate the water around in the tank and a co2 extinguisher in the morning.

Can you recommend a pump to circulate the water X2 i forgot what he was using?

Wish me luck i am going to need it lol
