First off, please congratulate me. :D

Today is my first time successfully rearing guppy fry. Haha, it sounds like I'm stupid. This is the first time ever for me having livebearer fish, so yeah...>_> *wriggles with joy

A question for you, though:

Could I use a divider from a pet retailer (petsmart)? Or is the permeability too large and the fry will be able to swim through? Thanks!~

Buy the breeder box thing and you can raise the fry in their for a little.

I bought a divider from petsmart to keep the filter and spongefilter on 1/4 of the tank, and the fry in the rest 3/4 of the tank. The problem is

A ) - The clips that hold each side of the divider against each side of the aquarium arent holding them up tight like they should be thus making a gap for fry to get through, Ive tried tightening them, etc. Ill have to keep looking for a better way.

B ) - Unless you have substrate (A Small amount will do) the fry will be able to do the limbo and get under it.

As for the little holes, I havent had any fry go thru them, however I'm sure one of them will attempt to go thru the small hole and get stuck, or maybe they ARE small enough to get through. So far non have though.

i just bought a small tank and have the fry in that till they are big enough to go else where set up for little tank did not cost alot

The reason I asked because it is a community tank. There are mollies and a guppy(mom) and two african dwarf frogs in it, and I have no breeding traps, nets, or spare tanks, and I can't get a spare tank (still live with parents)

So guppy fry can get through the divider at the sides, but not the bottom for me - I have substrate. Hmm...

DeepSeaFishin, is the quality of the divider good?
