As you may know i bought a new VT not long ago after making a divider.
I came home to find that my new VT had been stuck in the holes that i thought were too small for them to get stuck in
I really liked him, he had very nice colours and a great personality.

I have just been out to buy a mesh that i have cut to size for a divider, which fits nicely, so maybe after loosing my boy ill buy another :)

RIP matey

Oh no that's terrible news. Poor little man :( They do the most impossible things sometimes and not always to their benefit.

Look how small the holes are compared to him.......

He was half way in, but my other betta wasn't doing anything to him, which is weird.

that's so sad :(

the other day I hung a thermometer on the side of the tank, left the room for a minute, came back and fish had himself wedged right between the tank and that thermometer, it had to go! I gues sheep get heads stuck in fences and can't back their way out all the time, they just keep ramming and their heads through til they cut their own throat or get a heart attack from being so upset by it.

I can't believe it, i didn't bother taking out the divider because i was busy doing A-level work. I was up til early hours finishing off things as the deadline was today.

As i led in my bed i glanced at the tank (which is by my bed) and saw that my other betta was stuck, i couldn't believe it
I loved this guy, i can't believe i didn't take the divider out after the first one got stuck, i feel a right ####.

RIP buddy :-(

p.s i burnt that crappy divider  will never make this mistake again.

Ye i did buy some plastic white mesh, that alot of people use, the holes are tiny, so theres no way any fish can get stuck.

Heres a pic of it now.....

I'm getting some clear acrylic from school, to use as a lid, got to get it cut first though.

Make sure you put something along the sides, or they'll wedge their way through...like report cover spines. Mine still try to push their way to the other side with them, so I have no doubt that they'll try without them. Then you'll end up with another stuck betta that's been stabbed by the mesh, stuck, and fought and killed the one on the other side.

I also fasten mine in place with suction cups stuck through the mesh at the top and bury it with substrate at the bottom. I use silicone to stick fiberglass screen on both sides so they can't even see through...no stress on them, and there's a small chance they're going to really see through, let alone get through. It ends up looking like this:

I've used one of the binders that i used on the other divider, and used that rock to hold it in place, i have a little suction cup im going to put on now, thanks for that :good:

So sorry to hear about your bettas

*hugs*

But your tank looks fantastic with the new divider and I'm sure you will make two other betta's new cup-less lives very happy.

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that happened!
Bettas are just too curious for their own good sometimes.

Anyone familiar with the ladder that comes with the nutrafin CO2 thing?
Well you suction cup the ladder to the tank wall, and at the bottom of the ladder, there is this VERY narrow little space that goes all the way up to the top of the ladder.
Well my betta Bluebell (RIP) had somehow gotten into that little space and actually made her way to the very top of the ladder where she was stuck! I remember looking all over that tank for her, and about had a heartattack when I finally saw her gasping in that little space. I have no idea how such a fat betta squeezed her way through, but she did it.
She was fine though thank goodness.
She ended up doing it again though before I could fit something into that space to block it, but once again I was lucky enough to find her.

Sorry to hear about you betta! Thats so sad, they're just too curious for their own good sometimes I guess, its sad though
