hello all,
I am quite a novice and have set up a tank 4 months ago. I have some platties and have just introduced some guppies ( 4 hours ago). to the tank. The guppies keep pestering two of the platties which I am sure are pregnant ,conatantly. She could be getting distressed. what is the best thing to do please HELP.

You are not specifying if the guppies are male or female. Im assuming most of them are male. Male guppies tend to harass females [even platy females]. This can be corrected by having at least two female guppies for each male [three or four better]. This way, guppies do not focus on a single female. But you do not tell the volume of your tank. Be careful not to overstock. In my opinion, overstocking your tank is even worse than the harassment problem you have right now.
Another alternative is aquascaping with lots of plants [artificial or natural]. THIS will provide hiding places for the harassed fish and avoids the overstocking problem.
