I've got a red betta (Flame) in a community tank, where he's been for about two months now. He didn't get off to the best of starts, he got his fins ripped up by a female when they were in the split breeding tank, being conditioned.

He was recovering nicely, but now he's started flopping over to one side, and floating horizontally on the surface of the water. Any ideas? :dunno:

Could be swim bladder disorder. Might be an internal infection affecting organs near the swim bladder also. It's hard to treat for internal problems. There are some who claim to work for internal disorders, but others claim they don't work so well. Parasites or worms could be bothering it too. You might try a food with meds, or something the fish will absorb. Maybe treat for parasites if you think it's not internal. Don't feed too heavy for awhile, and even try giving the insides of a cooked pea. Without watching the fish for awhile, it's hard to determine just whats wrong.
