will it affect my plants if the bottle runs out and i dont change to the new bottle say untill the morning.
do i take my old bottle back to the lfs for them to dispose of.
as always any advice much appreciated

Your plants will be fine without the CO2, but I would get it hooked up APAS to stop algae, which is often triggered by poor CO2, so the less time you are without co2 the better.

If the cylinder is disposable, then chuck it in the bin or better yet recycle it. You only been to take back refillable cylinders to the LFS where you swap it for a full one for a round 10-15quid.

Yeah just chucking it in the recycle box (if you have one) is the way to go. Also dont buy the new ones from your LFS as you are paying at least twice as much as what you should be. Look for weilding supplies online and you can often buy exactly the same bottles of CO2 for a lot less.

I got my first bottle from an online fish store which cost about £18 for a 500g bottle. I then got 3 600g bottles for £25 from a weilding supply store.

Also, machine mart do 600g bottles for around £8, if you have a branch near by - add postage if you don't.

You need a needle value in addition to the reg. The trouble with welding regs is that the output is far faster and less accurate than you need for aquariums. A needle valve allows you to add single bubbles to a tank.
