Our nano tank at the office has a male and female guppy in it. The female is very obviously pregnant, and based on what I've read here and elsewhere, she's just about ready to pop. Unfortunately, we noticed yesterday that she started getting white spots on her scales and had something white covering one of her eyes.

Now, I've left the tank to my officemates for purely political reasons. They purchased some stuff called Quick Cure and have been adding it to the tank. The white on her eye has already cleared up, but the other white spots now look like the scales are peeling.

She looks horribly uncomfortable (and with 50 babies in there, I can understand why), but she hasn't actually spit out any of the fry. Anyway, is there anything that I can do to help the poor little thing?

Quick Cure is for external parasite's, so it is like coppersafe. It shouldnt interact badly with the other medicine. What size tank is it? How long has it been set up? Has it been cycled? Do you feed it alot? Daily water change's will discourage from anything else bad happening. Most fish get sick becasue you dont do enough water change's. You need API Aquarium Salt. I think it is 1 tablespoon per 5 gallon's. Also, dont use regualr tablesalt.

I used to change 100% of the water, at a time, every week with 8 guppies in a JAR with no filtration or aeration. It was vastly overstocked, I overfed them and I was eight years old at the time.
Take my word for it. Guppies are Tough. Water changes will not hurt her at all.
I use salt at one gram/litre (4 grams/gallon - you could probably increase that to 1 tspn/gallon without harm) with fungus infections, which is what the guppy has. Never heard of either med, so can't help you there.

As I've said, I've left the care of these fish to my co-workers. They are, technically, theirs, as they've paid for all upkeep and supplies. I have no idea when they feed them or how often they change the water as I work nights and they work days.

That being said, I did a 33% water change and added a bit more of the Quick Cure. I can't get any of the other medication as it's after 23:00 on a Saturday night, but if I have a chance I'll try to grab some tomorrow before I come in.

Oh, and it's a five-gallon tank with a carbon filter.

I'm happy to report that we are now the proud grandparents of about 10 new baby guppies. I think Daddy ate the rest, but I managed to scoop 10 or so of them into the baby tank.

What we're going to do with them when they're grown I have no idea, but they survived!

Oh, and Mama's disease seems to be much better now that the babies are out. Dad's a bit spotty now, though.

Its probaby white spot. On my mollies I had a wierd thing on the eye and then whitespots appeared. You can get medicine from almost any LFS

White Spot is like little pieces of salt. My guppies had the same problem's as your's, it is called body rot, and you need pima fix. Congrat's on the fry. Carbon Filtration will absorb any med you put in it. SO take out the carbon.
