if i manage to save this guy i promise ill let u all know :p

well ive got my ill fish in a 10gal "hospital" tank but sadly noticed this evening one of the smaller discus in my main tank darkening in colour and not eating, i tried to coax him but he wasnt interested. the others were ravenous. i immediately netted him out and placed him also in the hospital tank. this may be a little hasty of me i dont know? my thinking was that if he is ill i have noticed it immediately and by removing him to be treated i am giving the others a higher chance of not getting infected. and if there isnt actually anything wrong with him then i suppose no harm done? the 2 dont seem to bother eachother in the hospital tank. i am planning on running treatment as stated on the packet for day 1 2 and 3 consecutively then waiting another 3 days before i even attempt to get them feeding. any feedback on this would be appreciated. cheers

i must say the 2 fish look alot better now. they are not dark and they are moving around alot in the tank. however my attempts to get them to feed have been with no luck. they seem to show interest in the frozen brine shrimp sinking in front of them but they then dont bother to try a piece. im guessing (and hoping) that they are pretty much on the reapir now but they are still a little stressed to eat at the moment? if anyone has a thought on this would be appreciated. thanks ;)

the med has another 3 days left to run. maybe wait 3 days, water change then try feed?

well sadly the 2 fish still wont eat. the smaller and second addition into the hospital tank is starting to look pretty ill now. he has gone very dark and looks like he has given up. the larger fish still looks the same but they both look listless.... both octozin and interpet no9 have failed... not sure what to do next this is rather frustrating =/

Sorry to hear mate, there is one last try you can do.

Get some Hexamita made by esha, I can vouch for this stuff personaly.

Have the meds finished the course, if so, do a 50% water change, and try a little bit of live brineshripm/bloodworm then treat with hexamita.

Good luck

hey. GOOD NEWS :D. a day later both fish looked better again weirdly enough. full colour. parading around their HUGE 10g hospital tank lol but still they wouldnt eat..... i took a risk and probably did a very dangerous thing...my thinking was that they looked better and they were better. i also thought maybe they refused to eat simply because they were isolated in a bear bottom tank and were unhappy....i put them back into their main 6 foot tank with all the other discus...2 days later they are both eating. THANK THE LORD FOR BLOODWORM. :D

Glad its going better now.

When I got my first discus, it took them over a month to start eating... they will give time, I feed them mainly beefheart (from Devotledly Discus ), tetra prime and ZM discus food and they go mad for all three.
As far as internal parasites go, Flubinol 15 is by fr the best treatment available and a little goes a long way, its also safe with other types of fish, will not hurt the filter and you cannot overdose on the stuff
