I noticed with 2 of my discus (they are both rather light in colour, one is a yellowy cream and the other an orange with cream), they have speckles all over their heads and body. The speckles are very dark and may be black or very dark grey. It is only on my two lighter coloured discus. They seem healthy enough and my other darker discus has no traces. I was hoping it wasn't a disease or something sinister.

There seems to be a lot more of it rather than a few weeks ago. Help anyone?

Is this just peppering due to the lights and dark background?

This is NOT my discus, however my discus looks very similar only has a few more...

Photo of the fish posted shows clamped fins, chipped eye(s) and fish at or on substrate.(not a fish I would select )
Speckling could be genetic occurence.
As mentioned ,if speckling was all I was observing, I would not be too alarmed. Mind your water and fish will mind themselves, works well for me.

I have 7 discus out of which 4 are peppered 2 of them heavily. I read that if you put a light coloured background on them the peppering will fade over time, where as a dark background will make it more prominent!

Yes it's peppering (thank God that's not your fish.)

Dark substrate/tank (and as stated) background can affect peppering, along with mood and water chemistry. Peppering is pretty much the same as stress bars in Pigeon based strains.

That's good news then... must be the dark background I added!
