hi all,

i am looking it to setting up a discus aquarium includiing only discus.

I am quite new so i am after some help:

What sort of equiptment will i need? Will i need anything specific.

Thanks :good:

for something specific, I can say that you will need an RO( Reverse Osmosis) System.

You dont need a RO system because most discus are rasied in tap water ( dechloranator added of course) . Your tank will need to be about 82-85 degrees and, you will need a freshwater master test kit, water( couldnt resist), A good filter( I personally suggest a bio-wheel) and a cycled tank. Tell me everything that you know and I will fill you in on the other stuff.

i currently own 2 freshwater aquariums - 1 community tank and 1 breeding tank. both 30gallons. what size do you recomend for discus? i intend to put all my fish in the breeding tank and keep my community tank for discus - is this ok. Also the community is filtered by a fluval external filter

Balderdash. Discus are one of the more 'true' softwater fish and really do require the softer water. If you live in the UK then chances are your tap water is hard so you would need to soften your water somehow. Here is a useful link about softwater fish.
