Hey guys I just saw a few discus in my lfs. They seemed to be checkered pigeon discus and I noticed they were in about 15 gallons of water. It shocked my that the best LFS in my town has discus in 15 gallon aquaria! I would want to save them but they are quite costly where i live: cost about 1250 pesos(philippine peso) which is about 35 dollars there. And I dont have the tank to house them. what to do. what to do.

Sorry but I see no problems here?

You forget that there a fish store, They are allow to keep fish, Even discus in these types of fish tanks.

The filter units are bigger than you are and could handle a few discus as well as the entire fish store. Also, They do not expect to keep them for long, They expect to turn over fish every week and so the fish tanks are temp living spaces for the fish and not there homes!

So there is no need to rescue these are they aren't in trouble :p

their filters are just some corner filters.... quite overstocked their tanks are... the filtrartion is not enough for the fish since they have an individual small corner filter in each tank... one looked like its growth was stunted....they have been in there for almost a year now!

i agree with techen. its like you going camping and living in a tent for a few days

If that, being the case is true then it does happen sometimes. But I still expect that if it's lasted a year in that tank they are doing something right. Discus are one of the hardest fish to keep in the tropical world.

except they have lived there for almost a year now.

Just out of interest, what made you raise this now, knowing they've been in there for over a year?

saw some of them with major shape deformities... a few months ago they looked fine but now are deformed
