That was the next question. :)

There tank is up with a sand bottom, I need to pick up a new airstone for it.

I'm going to be ordering a bunch of Seachem Flourish tabs for both tanks and start planting in the next week. I'm moving a couple of male guppies into the tank temporarily to help the cycling process (I need to take the load off my females).

My next thought was what to do for plants/Decorations.....

I don't expect to add the discuss for 2 to 3 months since I will need to have about $200 set aside. My LFS said he would cut me a deal and get me 8 very young discuss, all pigeon blood, for $200.00. Then, after about a month or when they pair off he would take 2 to 4 back. :)

If your looking to breed pigeon blood, you could have a spot of trouble.

The colour form 'pigeon blood' came around through extensive breeding projects. There is little wild blood in the strain anymore and with each generation that is born and raised, natrual instincts are slowly forgotten. This has affected the fishes ability to properly raise its young. Although some fish still do a great job and rearing their fry many of them have simply lost their parental instincts and eat the young before they bcome free swimming. This is a problem becuase as you probably know, the fry eat the layer of mucus the parents secrete during the breeding process. There are a few alternative food that could be used if your able to find them in stores but many fry die becuase they're taken away from their parents and cannot find any food which is offered to them.

Alright, then I don't start with Pigeon Bloods. :/

I saw some nice turquoise. ;)

But then again that is probably true of any of the amazing colour strains we have today. The only surefire way of having good parents is to buy the wild coloration, which are actually quite drab and dull-looking. So I guess it depends on what your priorities are.

I don't mean to imply that all tank raised fish won't breed, so there is no need to get another colour strain if you had your heart set on pigeon bloods  Chances are with 8 fish you'll get a pair that will be good enough parents

Whats the price difference between the pigeon bloods and turquoise?

It all depends on which breed of which one. :/

I've seen them from $20 to $60...

I can probably get around $25 each for Juvenilles from my LFS no matter the type, because he knows that if I get them mating he gets first dibs. :)
