Discus Pictures

I am debating what kind of discus I want so I would like to start this thread to see the different types. I am intending based on these pictures to pick out a type I like. Please Post your discus size, type, a picture, its tank size, and tankmates. Feek free to add a discription of the tank too (for example tempature, filter, ph, when you do water changes, and so on....)

Fish Info : about one year and 3 months old, feed frozen blood worms, diced beef heart, live water flee blood worm and misqutio larva in the summer, tetramin large flake, and the occasional baby guppy.

Tank Mates Currently : 0 but I had peppered corries and a chocolat pleco in at differnet times.

Tank : 55gal Bare bottom with one teracotta flower pot on its side under 3 pices of bog wood.

Equiment : Emperor 400 no carbon, four floss\foam filter pads, two 300 watt heaters, one 24" Florescent Aquarium Reflector 120 volts 19 watts 60Hz

Stats : Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 0 Ph 7.6-7.7 Water Changes every two days at 10-20%


I got my discus through the mail from Rocky Mountain Discus They have a very good selection and photo gallery.

You could also try looking at a site like www.simplydiscus.com. They have a "gallery" section, which is going to be a lot more complete as a forum simply becuase there will be more people posting to it that keep discus.
It's also a good site for looking up details of care etc - lots of different people's procedures.
I've not got a digital camera, so no photo from me!
Stats: temp 29C, amm 0, nitrite 0 nitrate under 5 pm, siphon sand daily (equates to around 10% daily water change) with a further 20% change every second day.
Not sure where you're from, if the UK try looking at UK Discus Assoc web-site for lists of breeders. If US, sounds like rocky mountain would be good to try!

I have 5 total.

The one in the back is a Golden Dragon. Two Red Turqs (one heckel). I don't know the exact name of the large, pink Pigeon Blood one in the middle. There's also another Req Turq in this tank (hiding somewhere).

Tank Size = 72g US bowfront
Filter = Eheim Pro canister

Tankmates = some Cardinal/Rummynose tetras, one Blue Ram, one Bolivian Ram
