Discus Information...

Yep always better to have a bigger tank, means a bigger group, with the different colours you can get the tank will look gorgeous.

I just put up a discus piccies thread in the journals and photo's bit here so take a look at my red dragon and red turq, once the turq colours up itll be a very nice contrast.

Have a blue turq in QT at the moment while it grows on so thatll be nice also.

I would seriously recommend a bigger group of fish, its just nicer to look at =-)

where do u guys buy your discus from? im getting a 120gallon tank in about 6 weeks time and im after a bunch at reasonable prices.

You can normally get Discus from your LFS, but if you want anything high quality you will have to go to a breeder/importer.

In the back of the PFK mag im pretty sure theres a shop that mainly deals in Discus.

most discus love soft water thats why i've never kept them nor has my mother so.. if i had soft water then i would but since i cba to buy the chemials i just stick to the good ol o's ( in my previous days anyway )

That's very far from the truth, in fact, almost all domestic Discus are raised in hard water.

They can all pair together yes, some mixed pairs can produce odd colored fry though, they would be undesirable.

Now im confused though. i dont know if i want wild discus or domestic.

Its hard there both nice....

which one would be easier 2 take care of first off?lol

You could but, you need to think of the wild discus needs more. Domestics are just more tolerant of water while wilds are so used to Amazon conditions that they don't tolerate water as easily as domestics.

I would start with 4 domestic discus, add lots of plants, some bog wood and get your water nice and soft around a ph of 6, once the fish are happy and all parameters are stable try adding some of the wilds.

This way you can be sure that everything is spot on for them
