Discus Help

So I picked up a couple jouviniles of Red mystic something and other discus. They're about 0.75", only 2 months old. I was wondering firstly, can anybody give me the ending of the discus name? I don't remember the last part lol.

Secondly, can anybody give me any information about this specific species? and I was told these fish were $400 for a breeding pair, is that an accurate price or is it just bs. The pair only cost $30 so I'm pretty happy.

Only sure way to tell you is to get pictures. Never heard of a red mystic discus, sometimes breeders will cross strains and give them fancy names like that. All of the Discus species are similar in care though, frequent water changes, small and many feedings and you should be good. How many do you have? With fish that small I would start with 80-100% water changes daily, 6-8 feedings a day in a bare bottom 30 gallon. Once they hit 3-3.5" move them into a 55 or 75 gallon to finish growing (but this also depends on the amount of Discus you picked up.)

$400 is pretty well priced for a pair. 350 and up isn't unheard of for breeding pairs, they are breeding pairs after all. One store where I live is selling a pair for $900.
