Discus Compatability

I have one in my tank and it never bothers the Discus. They are neat but be very careful if you have driftwood in your tank. They tend to find the smallest of places to get stuck in and I had a heck of a time getting mine out when it was stuck in a piece. They hide alot too.

No, I would not. You shouldn't keep catfish with Discus. Catfish are nocturnal, spooking the sleeping Discus as they move about at night.

hmm conflicting advice. Anyone else have any opinions/experiences?

Ta

I agree with DiscusLova,

I had two Eupterus which got to about 8inches, They became highly territorial and are a quick but bulky species that as said become very active at night.
I think stressing the Discus would be the very least they would do, and the way mine used to bomb around the tank i can only see a few Discus getting knocked about

I wouldn't keep one as big as Eupterus with them, greedy horrible fish that are very boisterous when they are out and can become very teritorial in my opinion.

I'm stuck with a Eupterus now that my son loves!!! Its his favourite called Peter Parker!!! Could do with the Green Goblin taking him away!!!

hmm okay then. Unfortunatley i have two of these which are currently in a 60l BiOrb along with a severum. (don't ask)
Ill just have the fish in the tank to mature it for discus, then i will need to get rid.

Cheers

i had a large catfish in mine but never had any problems
but as discus lova said they might spook which is true......

ive had a Synodontis and a dora catfish

oh my days do you really think i was putting the discus in the BiOrb?

Ive got a seperate tank for them... :X

Im not sure what to do now, ive got different advice.

If you are unsure on what to do I always say to myself "If in doubt, wait it out"...

Mine is a Raphel Catfish not the one you mentioned. I have never had any trouble with him but then all he does is hide. Not crazy about him either as the bristlenose does not like him at all. He will be going to a new home soon as I will be setting up a new Discus tank soon.

Good Luck

hmm well im not sure if i will keep them with the discus, i will just have the cats in there temporarily until i can rehome them.

Raphel Catfish is another name for a dora catfish.......
