I have a 200 litre tank that I want to put Discus in. I am just toying at the moment whether to switch from my community tank.

Does anybody have any advice on what a Amazon Biotope would consist of?

generally the Amazon is soft acid water with lots of tannins (brown tea staining) from rotting plants and submerged tree branches. There is usually a fine sand on the bottom. However, it can vary depending oon which part of the Amazon you are looking at. Some areas have clear water and a rocky bottom. Also the further downstream you go, the harder the water becomes.
During the wet season when the Amazon floods the water spills onto the surrounding land and submerges trees and plants and you have a layer of leaf litter on the bottom and lots of tree roots and branches for the fish to swim around and through.
