well tonight, i notices water was murky.... then notices filter is not working......

anyhow tried cleaning etc but no, its defo broke... so went to PaH where i bought it from - (its not even 6 months old - external filter @79 quid..!), they have loaned me an internal filter...

im thinking its been off for at elast a day - so bacteria dead?

anyhow - my fishies are now happy again swimming in their tank..... but thing is - i dont have a filter now! only one on loan!

my friend is checking the fuse in my external one later to check its not that.... but i have no idea why its just stopped working....

any ideas about the filter??? and is my tank about to do a fish in cycle???

p.s ive used my filter pads in the borrowed filter.....

did you check that the media wasn't severely clogged?

did you check for scum crammed up in or near the propeller or motor?

bacteria wont be dead, however it wont remain 'alive' for long.

completely checked/cleaned the filter etc..... its flipping immaculate....

will pump manually.... nothings blocked.... just wont go... am thinking its the fuse. or plug....

fishies seem ok.... will test the water ina bit as i have no idea how long it takes the water to turn over on an internal or isit the same?

that the sponge thingy... then yes i did.. as advised by the dude from PaH

tanks slowly clearning as it went quite cloudy.... grrr

You shouldn't have lost a lot of bacteria, so long as the sponges stayed wet, which I assume they did? The die off rate for this type of incident is thought to be somewhere between 2 - 12% per day, so 1 day shouldn't have done too much damage.

P@H gave good advice telling you to get the sponges in the tank , but for maximum benefit you want the sponges inside the borrowed filter for now. Is it big enough?

Have you checked ammonia and nitrite levels?

BTT :good:
