Has anyone else had the experience of a disappearing fish? I've been quite busy over the past week on work projects and have been keeping a slightly less close eye on my tanks. Yesterday I was looking closely and couldn't see one of my two platys in my 64L tank (quite small tank). At first i thought it must be hiding away somewhere but it hasn't reappeared and there are no signs of it anywhere dead or alive. I would have thought there would be some remnants of a body but nothing?????? I'm gutted that I didn't notice before because I hadn't been ignoring them completely, just not observing as much as usual. I've looked behind the tank and everywhere around it to see if it had jumped out but no.

Had this happen quite a few times, normally with smaller fish, im pretty sure if it died, it may have been consumed, failing that check any equipment in the tank, heaters, filters etc

I've had this with one of my guppies I didn't pay a lot of attention for a couple of days and when it come to cleaning time he dissapered ??? Checked everywhere including my external but no remains and I was completely gutted as he was a one off as he had camouflage colouring but had a few bright blue and reds as well and a half wavey tail.

I even moved my tank 2 foot away from my wall thinking he went suicidal but nothing. All I could think is that he got eaten by my other guppie/endlers and mollies

Do you keep shrimp in the same tank by any chance? I have, unfortunately, lost a Cardinal Tetra and an Otto recently, only to come down the following morning to find my Amano shrimp tucking in !!!!

Terry.

No, no shrimps. That must have been a horrible experience but you knew where they'd gone. Thanks for the thought though Terry.

Yep i had this a few times, even lost a siamese fighter with no trace to be found!!! . I imagine its either been eaten by your other fish, been sucked up by your filter or simply decomposed. Check your water stats, substantial water change & a good clean. Dead & decomposing fish can cause havoc for your water stats as it did with mine!!!
Hope you get it sorted with no further issues.

disappearing fish seems far too common for my liking. ive lost a couple as well since ive had my tank
