Ok this is going to sound odd and I am very new to the hooby so apologies if this is really silly but a fish has just disappeared from the tank. I have checked the filter etc and can't see any remains of it having been swallowed up ala "Finding Nemo" but I have checked the tank thoroughly and cannot see any trace of the fish or its remains.

Could it have been eaten by one of the other fish?

The amazing disappearing fish story is more common than you'd think. They jump out and get pretty far from the tank. The get completely sucked up into filters. They get completely eaten. They die and you find a bit of skeleton much later. They live (!) and you find them hiding in an impossible place, much later. Sometimes you've looked and looked and declared them a fish never to be found and all of a sudded there's the dead body right in front of you. You just never know.

there can be many causes behind this....maybe it has jumped out of the tank ,maybe it has died and been eaten by other fishes and it's a common incident to every aquarists ...
