Have just helped the Sis move house and came across a bucket full of very nice black marbled pebbles, about 15 kilos, all roughly 2" in size. They have been outside in a bucket of water for at least two years and are covered in slime.

Would they be safe to add to the decor if they had a clean?
What would be the best way to give them a clean, i.e. what to use and what not to use?

Cheers,

Gooner.

Best way would probably be to give them a scrub in clean water with a clean scrubbing brush. Then boil them before you put them in the tank.

Could there be any nasty bacteria loitering around that will need to be destroyed? or would boiling them acheive this?

Boiling should get rid of any of the nasties. I would boil them for at least 15 minutes. Before boiling, I would soak them in hot soapy water and scrub them, then rinse and boil and rinse again to make sure all the soap is off.
