Dirty Horrible Smelly Fish Shop

a fish shop in my area i feel is very distgusting the man who runs it is an arrogant old t*£t and keeps his fish in very poor condition his tanks are all over stocked some of them have 2 big fish in (oscars) and the tank isnt big enough to hold 1 small clown loach theres always dead fish in his tanks and he only fills these tanks half way to the top the fish you buy from him last less than three months and he over charges can i report him and who to

i really hate this guy

i understand your frustration and your need to get him reported...but do you still shop there?

Hi there,

You can't do anything about his prices...

However if this is a registered pet shop, then your first step would be to contact the local Environmental Health office (this is the part of the council normally responsible for the issue of pet shop licences under the Pet Animals Act 1951) and report your concerns over the health and welfare of the fish he is stocking.

There will be clause's in his licence that require him to keep the fish in suitable accomodation and that all fish sold must be in good health. If appropriate the EHO could revoke the licence or at the very least require his compliance with the licence.

I would agree and do what has been said already. The overstocking happens at EVERY LFS, you have to remember that they are way overfiltered then need be and go on the assumption that they wont live this way for long as they are bought.

Hope some good comes from this Let us know what happens.
