Hi I have a 64L tank - ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 20
It's been cycled once but a mini cycle started when adding 4 fish a few weeks back and am still working on getting the nitrates down at the moment.
I have 5 Cory's
2 platys
4 glowlight tetra
5 4 week old fry in a breeding box.
All fish are doing good but my tank seems to get slimy everywhere so quickly and the glass gets dirty (more just grubby than green) just as quick. I cleaned it all last week, and yet today it's now all starting to build up again. One of the plants I have in there looks as though it has a layer of dust on them?!
I try to feed sparingly but my fish, especially the platys and Cory's demolish their food very quickly and so erratically that I feed them twice a day to make sure they are not too hungry...is this causing the problem?
I would appreciate any help.

How long are your lights on for? You also don't really need to feed them twice a day. You could be causing yourself problems by overfeeding and creating food/fish waste that's fouling up your tank.

My lights are on for about five hours a day and then about an hour on the 'night time lights'. My platys are always so hungry that they nearly suck the fry out of the grills of their box they are so desperate to get to their food. I will try reducing the feed to once a day. It might control the amount they poo too I guess?!?
