Digital Tank Thermometer?

Yo.

Measuring temperature is not rocket science and even though that one appears slightly cleaper than the ones in my LFS it should do the job you want.

However, does it have a maximum & minimum temperature alarm? I think this would be a good idea to have.

The one I got on ebay (sameish price) does - The Marina Aqua-Minder & is touted as an aquarium 'computer' (cira 1969 perhaps!). It does sport alarms & useful reminders (albeit totally inadequate for the job).

Hi there!

Yes this one has an alarm.....I currently have a Marina digital thermometer see link below...but I find this one quite unreliable? I was thinking of getting the one above as I figured it would be more precise....and I was hoping it would react quite quickly....some thermometers take a few minutes before they read the correct temp. :/

hi, i have that thermometer (on the ebay link), it doesnt seem to react instantly though, takes less than half a minute or so though. does the job. not very cheap that one on ebay though, especially once you put p&p ontop of that, i got mine for a tenner from my lfs, plus id rather pay a pound or two extra to buy from a reliable source than an online auction

I have a Marina Aqua Minder. It's digital, accurate and has alarms for low/high temps, water changes and filter maintenace! It does it's job and I haven't had any problem with it. I got it from my lfs.

Thermometers such as these take time to respond because they are mathematically AVERAGING their readings.

Also consider the placement of thermometers - they should be the opposite side of the tank to the heating element. Also heat rises etc etc.

Also, so what if they take a little time to respond to fluctuations? Even for a small tank such as mine (15 Gallons or about 65Litres), there is NO energy source in my house that could possibly change the temperature of the water fast enough to even come close to outstripping a digital thermomter that was averaging even once per minute!

I got myself an Aqua Minder today, after my Oscar decided he wanted to munch on the glass 1 that was in the tank  , very easy to set up. I like the idea of alarms for to high/low water temp, also I don't have to peer right up to the read the water temp I can do it from my chair.

An Aqua Minder it is then.

also I don't have to peer right up to the read the water temp I can do it from my chair.
FattyToadBoy?

(sorry, couldn't resist that one :p ).
