The old host of my rotating avatars has been down for a while now and I don't think it will come back. Because of this, I decided to switch to a different host. The only problem is the site won't accept the link to it. I'm not sure why, it work on other sites I go to.
The error received said:
Sorry, but the URL you entered for your avatar was incorrectly formatted or the link is not valid.
It is http://r.undev.org/?r=213689.jpg. If you use that link it takes you to a different page each time, and each is a different image.

Any idea of what I can do?

Probably because redirected links are not allowed? (as this can become a security flaw).

Try Photobucket. I've never had a problem with linking my avatar photos there. Upload th photo, click edit and resize to 120x120 or smaller and then copy and paste the URL into your avatar link.

Inchworm had a problem with her switch for St. Patrick's Day. I think she ended up logging out and back in. You might just try refreshing the page. Or you may try rebooting your computer. Not certain what the issue is there. When I changed mine over (twice in the last week) it changed both times without a hitch.

It looks like your avatar is changed now, sailornight6. I've had the same thing happen too. When I changed to my St. Patrick's Day avatar, and again when I removed it, there was a delay in seeing it on the boards. The next morning it was fine.

I think the problem may be how it's done. All of the avatars on this thread show the avatar URL as http://www.fishforums.net/uploads...... Mine shows http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11/rdd1952..... If you are uploading it directly from you computer rather from a hosting site, that could be the cause of the problems.

EDIT: Just went in and changed mine to an upload from my computer and it came up immediately so not certain what the issues are. Seems to work fine for me either way.

Mine works fine from photobucket which is the onlysite I've ever used. If you right click on someone's avatar and select properties, you will see where their link is to. Tyler, Inch and sailor all appear to have uploaded directly from their computer rather than from a hosting site. if you upload your photo to Photobucket, resize it to 120x120 or less and copy and paste the "Direct Link" (not the IMG Code that you use to post photos in a thread) in, it should work fine.

No, the reason I can't do it from photobucket is because I want them to rotate. If you click the link I posted in the fist post you'll see that they're all hosted at photobucket already.

Not certain about them rotating. I guess you have done it before. That is a totally different situation that simply uploading them.

Your avatar must be no bigger than 120 pixels by 120 pixels in size. Uploaded avatars from your computer must be no larger than 21 KB.

56.87 KB (58238 bytes) 160px × 160px could be a problem.

Still, I've had these all on here before so it's not a matter of the site rejecting the images based on their dimensions. I'll make sure to resize them though.

I was having the same problems when trying to switch my avatar. It was a long delay. For me it showed that I had changed my photo in the "My Controls" menu, but the photo for my posts was the same but stretched out :/
