Different Species Defending The Same Cave

As I was eating breakfast this morning I was watching my 75 gallon go about it's usual business. I noticed something a little different though. One of my Buenos Aires tetras was posted up in the central cave that is ALWAYS inhabited by my synodontis eupterus. Looking closer I noticed they were both hanging out in there side by side. I thought that was strange because he never lets anyone in his cave. This time though the BA tetra was chasing out everyone who tried to pass through, even his own kind. Then they started teaming up to chase the other fish out of their cave. Never thought I would see something like that so I thought I would share. I'm sure they'll go back to being enemies later.

Before they go back to being enemies, you may well see fry in that cave. It sounds like typical cichlid pre-breeding behaviors to me. When you see them circling each other you will be even more certain what they are up to.
