Ok well I went to the pet store this morning and got some fish top stock my 85 gal tank and what I ended up getting wasnt what my original plan was. I was originally going to get african cichliods but no pet store in my area carries or can get the kinds I like so I decide to get something different that struck my eye.
While at the pet store I noticed some Jack Dempseys Blue Acara and Firemouth's and I loved them so I had to get them. I ended up walking out of the store with 3 Baby Jack's 2 Baby Acara and 2 Baby Firemouth's and 2 Baby Pleco's. The lady at the store told me to feed them flake food for now but didnt really go into detail as far as what to feed as they progress in age and I knew I could get the help I needed here so here I am lol. Any help on good Diet plans for these buddys will be much appreciated.

well ya plec will need plec wafers n catfish pelletts, ur cichlids eat anything really mate, daphnia, bloodworm, cichlid pelletts, flake food, catfish pelletts, have a look at my post which is under this one and wait till people add 2 it and then we can both get more ideas, try feeding them catfish pelletts now n maybe sum daphnia ( daphnia`s really small n the babys will probably eat it
BIG SHARK :good:

maybe I should clarify there not baby babys there about inch and a half to two inchs long i just dont want people thinking there 6 inchs or more. I just know that they eat live fish and wasnt sure how big they need to be before adding live feeder fish to the diet and also other things that can be added to the diet.

well ive got 2 green severums , 3 gold severums n 2 convicts and ive been asking the same question about feeder fish etc, i think its safe that i can say u dont need 2 feed em live feeder fish n that they get enough protein from bloodworms, cichlid pelletts etc, mine r about 2" aswell but i think they need 2 be abit bigger before starting with feeder fish, ive also found out that u nshudnt feed them things like goldfish as theyre meant 2 be bad for them, live bearers r the best feeder fish such as guppies n mollies, just keep em on a normal diet for abit. get other frozen live food, i got bloodworms, cockles, cichlid mix but theres loads more 2 choose from n feed them shrimps n prawns they love em

another thing is that if a fish can fit in their mouth they`ll eat it so if u had baby guppies in the tank they wudnt last very long :good: BIG SHARK :good:
