I know I should put this in the gourami section but noone is there.

I took on someones dwarf blue gourami as they no longer wanted it. It was a male, along with it's female partener. They looked perfect specemins and as I had 2 females already all was well. That was a week ago

Tonight however all has gone wrong. Earlier I noticed the male was not attempting to feed and was hanging at the back of the tank. He was sort of bobbing up to the surface to breath, sinking a few inches then bobbing to the surface again, over and over.

Now he sort of wedged himself behind a breeding trap just below the surface. I netted him and put him in another breeding trap. He sort of layed on the bottom of it then struggled to the surface, gulped air then layed down again. I think he is drowning.

My water readings are ammonia 0 nitrIte 0 nitrAte 40 (water change tomorrow)

So why did he go from perfect health to probably dead by now (don,t want to look)

Sorry he's not going to make it the signs are there of a dying fish.
Sorry.

Perhaps he was old and the stress of moving was too much for him? Is he still alive? Best thing you can do for him is do the water change as soon as possible. I hoep he makes it, good luck.

:rip: He's gone.........Definately the last male dwarf gourami in my tank. Will heed the advice of many in that there are many breeding problems with them at the mo. Tried twice and failed twice.....don't deal very well with failure! :sly:

Sorry R.I.P.
