I'm venturing into fish keeping for the first time. I have a 55 gallon tank, the dimensions are 48"W x 12"D x 20"H. I still have to build a stand and all, which I will probably get started on today.

I want a sand substrate. Eventually want the tank to be planted.

Here's a stocking list I want (is subject to change, many times. :P )

6x Tiger Barbs
5x Clown Loaches
3x Boesemani Rainbows
7-10x Harlequin Rasboras
5x Kuhli Loaches (if I don't get the Clown loaches)
7x True Rummynose Tetra

Will any of these eat a pair of Singapore Flower Shrimp or a coupe Amano shrimp? How large to these two shrimp get to be?

I was also thinking of putting in some snails of somekind? Anyone give me any tips on these?

Any input will be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

Way overstocked if you are planning for this to be a long-term home for the clown loaches. They are slow growers, but they get very big (supposedly 12-14") though I've never seen one over ten inches. They are great fish and I have four in my 150 gal. I have had them for three years and they are about 5 inches long. I think your setup could work in the short term, but it definitely won't in the long-term.

Also, expect to get flamed by some others here if you plan on putting any clown loaches in a 55gal. I did when I had mine in a 55gal, but I knew I had a 150 gal coming in a few months.

Also, from my experience tiger barbs were a nippy pain in the *ss even in a group of 8. Hassled everything else in the tank - so they were exchanged at our LFS for 8 x Boesemani Rainbows. Probably the best thing we ever did - those rainbows are great fish!

:good:

So should I just get a larger school of Boesmani from www.liveaquaria.com ? Since I don't have any of those types of fish around here? What else could I add instead of the Tiger Barbs?
