Just a little bit of trivia I thought you plant people might like to know. I was reading an article published in a plant journal.

Journal: Aquatic Botany
Volume 77, Issue 3, November 2003, Pages 223-234

And the title was: Interference competition between Ludwigia repens and Hygrophila polysperma: two morphologically similar aquatic plant species

I only read the overview, but basically they grew lots in a tank of 12 weeks. And the L.repens that were close to H.polysperma grew extremely slowly, some showed only 5% growth in comparison.

Neat. I read an article about H. polysperma and its effects on florida native aquatic plants. It is not pretty. It is not allowed here. Very invasive.

Do you have access to full article? would be nice to see what growth rates they were getting in monocultures. It would be interesting to read as I have both in my tank

Interesting bit is about Hygrophilia changing character of growth when competing with other plants - could be usefull

I do have access to the whole thing. But I'm pretty sure I can't post it on here due to copyrights n such. I gave the volume numbers and such so people could try to find it.

If you want to ask some specific questions I guess I could read it and do my best to answer them.

Maybe I'll get in trouble with the other mods, but you could always PM the interested parties with the links. :good:

My curiosity will always trump rules. :)

Cant. I'm pretty sure it needs my university log in to get access. That's why it's not available to everyone... but I'll check.

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/03043770 is where you can find the journal. Then just search via the volume and page references I gave if it'll let you.
