Hi---I set up a 10 gal tank for a baby Red Devil (which will be moved to my 180 gal when it's time). Anyway, it's been set up for about 3 weeks, w/ a Powerhead 301 using filter floss and ammonia remover. No probs w/ ammonia, nitrite or nitrate.
Anyway, the tank decorations (all store-bought), the walls of the tank and even the gravel, are developing what I can only describe as rust-like growth. It could be algae, I'm just not sure. It's brown and kind of spots the walls. Looks a lot like the items are rusting--but the stuff scrubs right off. Not sure why this is happening, and it doesn't seem to adversely affect the fish. Any ideas???
If it is algae, what type of algae eater is best for the brown stuff? Thanks!
