I have a Labidochromis Caeruleus, and I just want to know how to tell if it is a male or female. I heard that a male has dots on his anal fin; is this correct? The Cichlid I have does not have dots on its anal fin.

Thanks in advance!

Also, I am getting a bigger tank and would like to get two more of these kinds of Cichlids. What would be good to have together regarding male and females?

Males, in my experience, are Bigger , birghter yellow, darker colored fins. Females, are smaller, and thier throats are white.

Have a male and a few females.

Male cichlids usually have egg spots (dots on the anal fin) to attract the female to him during breeding. She sees the spots and thinks they are eggs that have to be collected up in her mouth. When she goes near him and attempts to engulf the eggs, he expels some sperm and she inhales it, thus fertilising any eggs in her buccal pouch (sack under her mouth that she keeps the developing eggs in)
