Im assuming these are calcuim deposits - its really bad - I can scrape them off and within a week, they are coming back. Its white, crusty and flaky - is there something I can do to prevent this?? My hood and light system are ruined and will have to be replaced for the tank to look good but I dont want to get new ones until I know how to keep it from happening again.. :dunno:

Hi,
I would say that this is to do with the type of water in your aquarium and its chemical makeup. But if your fish are healthy I would not go changing it. I would install a condensation tray (a size which should be available from your LFS to fit your tank) this might go some way to elleviating your problem.
