Denisoni Barbs

[MarkJenkins]

Hi there, my uncle told me that the Maidenhead aquatics @ Basingstoke was getting in about 100 Denisioni barbs, i think they're also called Torpedo barbs in on Tuesday. I thought these fish were band or is it just the adults? How much are these fish selling for at the moment?

Cheers Mark

They had some of these in Maidenhead in Earlswood. They were around £12-£15 each if I remember right, they were roughly 3 inches though, beautiful fish!!

Not banned but:
There are 3 months in the year when they can't be caught,
and fish caught must be over a certain size

oh right, im getting all kinds of information, someone told me the adults are not allowed to be caught, so they can reproduce....i don't know what size to get now.

they are captive bred in the far east and germany now, my LFS will not buy in wild caught ones

beautiful fish, they reach 6" long and are very active, they can be very skittish and a little fragile so need to be looked after.

they prefer cooler water, 22-25 degrees C, and come from fast flowing streams so they prefer a tank with a decent flow of water running through it.
