Hi,

I've just been watching my Egyptian Mouthbrooders spawning, the female doesnt seem to be able to close her mouth. She has no eggs in her mouth and when she tries to suck them in, she ends up just chasing them around the tank.

He mouth is constantly open, she seems to have an overly large mouth, but this is prob due to being a mouthbrooder,

any ideas on this one, or it a hopeless cause and I'll never get her to hold onto eggs :(

Any chance of getting a pic? Has her mouth always been this way or is it recent. Occasionally the males (and sometimes females) will lip-lock battle in my tank, and their mouths can be swollen for a few days afterword.

it was like that before, but she has held eggs before, the lip locking could be a cause as her gills seem a lot wider, they are still spawning as we talk.

I cant ever recall seeing her with her mouth shut ever though.
