F8s are BW. If you're looking for an oddball, how about an elephant nose? They don't grow quite as large as the knife but is in the dsame family. Eats only worms though.

These have been bread in freshwater.

Are they a bit on the nippy side?

1) No, actually, they haven't been bread in freshwater. But they have been bred. (sorry if this offends you) Thats because they breed in freshwater and move into brakish water.

3) Yes, they are very nippy
4) Read the first link in my signature, its meant for South american Puffers, but can count just the same for any.

Try following the advice given in those threads! And this one, Pufferpunk is one of the best and most experience puffer people I know (well...I only know her over the internet, but thats not the point). I look up to her.

I would love to see documentation of F8s breeding in captivity. As far as I know, it has nrever been done sucessfully.

Apparently my LFS gets them imported from UK.

I'll ask and let you know if she has any information on details.
