what would be a good set up for a severum and acaras also if any has a fluval 205 external filter i set mine up the other week and its been making some weirdnoise and blowing bubbles out is this normal ???

sounds like you got an airblock, try lifting the pump wilst turned on, tilting it at about 40degrees,wait a while and see if it changes the noise pitch,should gurgle abit then flowing silently, now very very slowly start bringing it upright,very slowly pausing evry so often,if it gurgles again give a little shake and wait,,repeat until upright,hope this helps...

tried that all ready it stopped continuously making a lot of noise ages ago but now it has little bursts every 5-10 mins of a funny noise then bubbles flying out ... absolute nightmare these external filters haha

have you filled canister completely to the top? then open both in and out take tubes,,leave a moment,,then turn on? this filter does it have a manual primer?

it has like a manual pump that you use to gt air out but tried it its not made the noise for bout alf an hour so far it might just occasionally have a bit of trappped air nothing could be clogging it as there is nothing but gravel in the tank atm

bin it and get an eheim more expensive but you will know where the extra money went. ( ps not slating your equipment just stating preference )

as for decor my blue acara loves to lurk in the "mangrove roots" rocks are good too so id have some caves made of rocks and a big old gnarled bit of redmoor root wood or mopani wood as a centrepiece

ive always had fluval and think there great filters,you just have to get to know your filter<much like getting to know a female
my fluval fx5 is my best filter ever, sooooo easy to maintain and it has its own microchip which controls the filter turns off every 24hrs for 2minutes and purges itself

as i said at the end of the day its personal preference but having had my eheim pro2 which i didnt have to break the bank for ( used for 70 quid) id never go back to anything else. but if the fluval works well for you fair play
