what product do you use to dechloranate your water? what one do you think is best?

I use stresscoat. I don't know what works the best, but that works fine for me! B)

I use Wardley's brand-it was cheap-$1.49 and seems to work fine.

I use one by Aquarium Pharmacuticals. It only uses like 3 drops per gallon.

That's what I've been using for my fishies But, how do you know if the chlor out is working?
....What sort of problems should you expect to encounter if the water isn't dechlorinated at all? I ask this because when I was young, I filled my fishes bowls with water straight from the tap and they lived for a year (My father killed all of my fish when I was away..God only knows how this managed to happen, but after returning from a long stay at camp, all my aquariums were filled with algae and all fish were dead ) but other than that, they all *seemed* healthy while alive.

I have always used Stress Coat here....and have always had really good results.

I use aquarium pharmeceuticals. Never had a problem. If the dechlor wasn't working, your fish would burn. Chlorine burns the slimecoat and skin of fish.

I use stress coat also. It's a dechlorinator, a chloramine neutralizer and it replaces the slime coating on the fish.

I do the 100% betta water changes anytime during the week that I happen to feel like doing it, so usually every 5-6 days. Only 16 tanks get 100% changes, but I still have my 80 gallon, 29 gallon, two 10 gallons, two 5 gallons, and new 2.5 gallon to think of . Plus the 10 gallon fry tank gets a 50-75% water change every day, and I'm about to buy a 30+ gallon plastic container so I can split up the spawn to grow them out, and that will be getting huge water changes too....

i used bottled water since dechlor cant get rid of the stuff in my water (its really hard and has a very high PH and we have had problems w/ ecoli) so bottled water is best for me

..but I bought a bottle of the "other" stuff when Walmart was out of the big bottles of Stress Coat...just to pull me by until it was back in stock lol. I've used it in my community tank the most...but I dunno what brand it is..it's in a white bottle with a brown label.
