Decent Lfs In Leicestershire

Yes, shirley is a very big and established aquatics shop, it has been established over 30 years. And last time I went there they were doing a 30th anniversary sale and doing all the fish they stocked 30 years ago at the same price now as they did thn. Fighting fish 80p, guppies 70p etc... :D

seems a very good place and at those prices worth going back to :good: i paid £11.50 each for my 3 polkadot loaches at A5 and they were selling them at £6.50 each......
my 2 rock shrimp cost me £6.50 each at A5, at shirleys £6 for 2...... as long as i have no probs with my angels i will deffo return there

would love to see a pic of the diamond scale angels when you get them, i've not ventured into Leics for LFS yet, but Shirley's sounds worth a trip for, will add it to my list for the next payday

will put pics on when i get them for sure :good: its well worth the trip to shirley especially at the minute with the offers on..... i could have filled my boots in there! not much really anygood in leicester. clearwater seems ok but not bought anything from there, maidenhead is ok, A5 is ok if you know what your after! but can be pricey, deep blue sea seems ok but again never bought fish from there.... anywhere else from what ive seen is pretty poor

are there any good lfs in northampton?

LFS are a bit thin on the ground in Northants too, we have plenty of pets at home(which I avoid), the one I love & visit most weeks is in Wellingborough, called FishRus, its not huge but they have a really good variety of tropical, cold water & marine fish, plenty of corals & a mix of common & rare fish.

For a larger shop we nip over to Maidenhead aquatics in Peterborough

I would Also Agree that A5 is really a waste of time, Very Overpriced and staff hardly know anything.
MA Stapleton is OK, Only Been there Once and the staff were very knowledgable and helpful.
Have not been to Shirley in Years(last time I went there asked 3 people to be served and was not so walked out), and have not been to the new MA Shirley.

Dobbies is a Great LFS, worked there a few years ago(did not agree with that Managers Selling Practices At the Time). Loads of Tanks and A Great Variety of fish and Dry Goods. Can be a little privey for the rarer fish and inverts.

Coventry only has 2 aquariums worth Mentioning. As stated by John AWUK - best place for marine, Trops are still growing there. R+S Aquatics in Pool Meadow bus station - Run by 1 person for the last 15 years or so. Great range of fish and the Best prices you will find anywhere, Eg Butterfly fish A5=12 R+S=4. He has built the shop and racks himself so does not always look the best. But can't be faulted on Price and Quality of fish. Knows So much about fish and breeds alot of his own, and knows alot of the local breeders.

Northants way - I would say 1st there is World of Water in Long Lawford, just of the A45. Alot of tanks with a VEry good range and good prices, They will always offer to do the best price if you want to order in fish in large quantities. All the Aquatics staff know there stuff and are very knowledgeable.

The other one I go to in Northampton is MA Harlestone Heath, Again A Alot of tanks and Most comprehensive range of Tropical CW and Marine. Keeps alot of Rare fish and always has Nano Fish. Alot of Plecs and Lnumbers. Great Cichlid range and Diverse CW range.
