my tank is coming along nicely now, over the last couple of weeks i added 2 red eye tetra, very young sailfin plec a small black angel and yesterday i got 3 more red eyes to make a group. everything is going well, the fish are all happy and healthy and the water is good everything is working well. other than the 3 new tetra, they are all tankmates from a previous tank.
when i put the 3 tetras in yesterday, they instantly started swimming together, which i was pleased about. couple of hours later i noticed one had been nipped fins a little bit, couldnt be sure whether that was pre or post going in my tank. but still seemed fine other than that. this morning i got up and could onyl see 4 tetras. i done a water change, hoovered the bottom, lifted the decor and couldnt find the 5th, which i noticed was the one being nipped (he was also a bit smaller than the others). i looked int he filter, besides the filter, and eventually found him dead underneath it.
obviously he was still alive when he went under there. is this something i should worry about happening to my other ones, or do you think he went under there and got trapped because he was the runt getting picked on or something, and was just unlucky ? the others done seem very interested in the filter other than swimming in the current.
