I came home today and found my golden ram Dead :-(

I've currently got ich in my tank and I raised the temp and also treated with Ichcide....... could any of this be the cause.

Also my ph is a bit high arround 8 and I heard thet rams like water which is a bit acidic.........I've tried lowering the ph but nothing really works.

I loved that fish :rip:

i'm keeping rams in 8.4......i wouldn't bother with your PH if your buying locally as the fish will be acclimatized to your fish shop water and if it's within a few miles that will be the same PH aswell so quite often the PH guides given on fish are pointless, I keep plecs with ideal PH's of around 7.

If your buying further away though it's best to find out your shops PH and then try to match it.

NNNOOO this is not a good story for me to hear as I just discovered one of my blue rams with white spot, and am now treating, I hope I come out a bit luckier then you did, I'm sorry for your lose they are such beautiful fish.

I raised it quite a bit...............I bought my heater on line and therefore didn't see it befor I bought it. when it arrived it didn't have a temp indicator on it all It had way a knob at the top to turn it up or down :sly: ...... so it was a case of trial and error.

It started at 25C (77f) and I upped it to 30C (86f) over night. I realised that it might be a bit warm so I dropped it to 28-29 (84-82)

Was it too much too quick?? :/

Good luck with the ich MXPX4318

My LFS is about 5 miles away, whenI went they had the tank marked up as under ph7. But it has been fine for about 2 weeks, with really nice colours and eating really well.................I hope nothing happens to my other 2 rams (these 2 were bought from a different LFS who didn't say anything about PH)

The thing is I raised the temp on Monday night......he was fine yesterday :-(
