No it is not mine. That is just the title of the vid.

Very early on in my begining to work with zebra plecos Hans-georg Evers did the opening talk for an NEC weekend event. He spoke on, Zebras in the Xingu (the only place they are found). He recounted going down with divers who were collecting. Hans is an experienced scube diver. The locql collectors use a pump in the boat and longe hoses to supply air. They have some big rocks inthe boat and they hold onto one of these to get down to the bottom. Once there they hold onto a big rock/boulder with one arm and begin to overturn rocks and to feel around with the other hand as you saw in the vid. It is dark when you go deeper. The have a mesh bag tied to their waist and what they catch would go into it.

Hans said he had never been so scared diving in life. He said the current was so strong that all he could do was to hold onto a boulder for dear life. he said he was afraid of being wshed away downstream and drowned. He joked he had to change his shorts when hte came back up. After the dive he said the local fishermen were talking about how so-and-so had drowned over there and that the cousin of one of the divers had drowned over in another spot.

I will also confess that after the talk I followed Hans around for a bit like a puppy dog pumping him for more info re the Xingu and zebras.

edited to make diver be divers
