Hi, I'm new to this forum, but posted on the Welcome pages.

I thought my female molly was pregnant as she had a large belly, but had no black spot on her at all. I was watching her for most of the night yesterday thinking that she was about to burst, but got up this morning and she was dead.

Here's the link to my original post, with links to a pic of her.

Does anyone know what may have happened to her?

Not sure if this is really classed as an emergency anymore, as she is now not with us!

How old was she.
livebaerers can die before birth, during birth, and after birth.
Were her scales sticking out.
The white spot on the fish how big is it, does it having any redness to the spot.

When you say whitespot do you mean the parasite, as the fish will look like its been sprinkled in salt.
Or do you mean the fish just have one white spot.

Hi, not sure how old she was. We've had her for about 6-8 weeks. Her scales weren't sticking out at all, she just looked like she was pregnant.

Yeah I mean the whitespot parasite. It's mainly on the tail, but he does have some on his body as well, although probably about 3 or 4. It's only on the molly, not on any other fish (as yet)

Are you medicating for the whitespot.
You raise temp to 30 and increase aeration in the tank with the high temp and med.
Remove black carbon if you use it in the filter.
Also read insructions on med leaflet carefully, as sometimes you have to half dose with scaless fish.

Yeah I've done one lot of meds, and it didn't cure it, didn't know whether to do it again or not. Didn't remove the carbon though, will try it again and remove the carbon.

Thanks for your advice.

If you left the carbon in it would of removed the meds, that what black carbons for.
It can take two rounds of meds to get rid of whitespot.
